Mr. Ellis,
I am writing you for the Maggie Valley Police Department and Maggie Valley Volunteer Fire Department from Maggie Valley, North Carolina. We are wanting to bring two trailer loads of stuff to the Pass Christian Fire Department, and the people of the town. We would like to see if you could get in contact will anyone in the Fire Department or Police Department so we will know what is needed and when will be a good time. We are wanting to leave on Sunday the 11th, and basically need a contact person to get in contact with when we arrive. Please if you would be able to get in contact with anyone, we would greatly appreciate it. A little help is on the way, just need to know where to go and who to see. Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of you. God Bless.

Ondrea,
Thank you.   I was there this past Wednesday to see first hand the devastation.
Because the Pass is on a peninsula and the two-mile Bay bridge collapsed,  there is only one road into the Pass since Hwy 90 is shattered in large chunks rendering it useless for traffic. No telephone service and No cell phone towers, No electricity in the town for computers -- my only source of communication has been with other evacuees who have lap top computers to email from.  I usually only find out news after someone has made a trip to the Pass.  The traumatic situation causes even those e-mailers not to think properly.
The Fire Chief is also the Civil Defense coordinator.  (His name slips me, since I just call him Chief)  I also forget who is in charge of the Volunteer FD.  John Dubuisson is the Police Chief.
However, I was able to get through to the newspaper in Gulfport and the best they can offer at this time is that the State Governor has set up a Relief Fund with the following contact line for donations which can be designated to certain areas.  1-866-230-8903, or 1-601-981-1247.
I am fairly sure that the telephone lines to Gulfport are operating where you could get a sheriff's escort into Pass Christian confirmed before your contemplated departure.  Check by internet the Harrison County Sheriff's Department for a number.  I will do so also for you and forward it to your email.
I will post whatever you wish to http://Katrina.PassChnstian.Net

Dan,
We all hope you are doing well under the circumstances. I got your e-mail's and we are working on getting in contact with someone at Harrison Co. Sheriffs Office.  We have some turn-out gear if the fire department needs it, food, baby supplies and other supplies necessary for everyday living. We just all feel that our help is needed and we want to make sure that you get it, and that Pass Christian gets it. This has touched so many lives, we have so much and others like yourself was left with nothing. We are going to do everything possible to get to Pass Christian. If you email anyone there, please let us know what is needed, and what the children need. Thank you for e-mailing us back so quick, and if there is anything that you need, do not hestitate to e-mail us back.

Dan,
We are so sorry to hear about all the devastation in Pass.  We have got in touch with the Sheriff's Office in Harrison Co. and are trying to coordinate a trip down there on possibly on the 14th. We are going to have everything from meds to dog food.  We are continuing to pray and keep you in our
thoughts.   Please stay in touch, so we know everything is okay.

Dan, My name is Capt. Jason Moody and I work at the Maggie Valley Police Department in NC. I think you have exchanged emails with Ondrea, our administrative assistant. We have two trailer loads of items consisting of food, water, clothes, generators chain saws and such headed to the Pass probably on Tuesday.  I want to take it to the Police Chief or the Fire Chief in person, not a warehouse. Your fellow Pass citizens don't need it in a warehouse and those two men will know where it's needed the most.  Can you please get me a phone number for either one of those gentlemen so I can make arrangements to get with them when I get close there.  Thanks for your help and our prayers are with all the citizens of your town.

Dan,
Our Police and Fire Department should be rolling into Pass this morning. We packed everything from 9 new generators to dogfood.  We hope this helps, and if anything else is ever needed please let us know.  Best of luck to everyone in Pass.
Thanks,
Ondrea Murphy   Maggie Valley Police Department

Dan,
This is a great website.  We just came back from the Pass, and I can't say enough about the devistation we witnessed there.  All you hear on T.V. is about New Orleans.  My opinion, all the people in New Orleans have received help, and the people in Pass Christian and surrounding Mississippi need the help a lot more than anyone right now.  The citizens of the Pass are suffering everyday, and it breaks our hearts to see this.  It makes me want to go home and sell everything I own, then send the money there.  You and every citizen in the Pass are still in our thoughts and prayers.  Please e-mail us again with any thoughts or concerns that you may have.  We are hoping to make another trip to the Pass soon.
Stay Safe.
Sincerely,
Ondrea Murphy   Maggie Valley Police Department
