Eleanor Read D’Antoni
Eleanor “Ellie” D’Antoni, 82, died Wednesday June 14, 2006 in Dallas, Texas. She was born July 24, 1923 in Colony, Oklahoma. She grew up on a church-owned mission in Oklahoma where her father was a home-missionary to the native born American Indians. A long time resident of Pass Christian, Ellie and her husband Dan had retired to the Gulf Coast from New Orleans in 1973. She moved to Dallas in March of 2005, six months prior to Hurricane Katrina. Ellie and Dan were active members of First Presbyterian Church of Bay St. Louis, the Pass Christian Golf Club and the Pass Christian Yacht Club. Ellie loved to play golf and sing. She had been an active member of her church choir and a local acappella group.
Ellie was preceded in death by two husbands Pete Rogers and E.S. “Dan” D’Antoni, her parents, Katherine Wauchope Read and Rev. John Leighton Read, two sisters Mary Saunders and Katherine Ann Hughes. She is survived by her sister Betty Read Dillion, of Westminster Colorado, her brother John Leighton Read of Palo Alto, California; four sons, William (Bill) D’Antoni of Houma, Louisiana, Richard R. D’Antoni of Dallas, Texas, Mark S. D’Antoni of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Wayne L. D’Antoni of Fort Collins, Colorado; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. A memorial service will be held Monday June 19, 2006 at 2 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Bay St. Louis.
Ellie loved the Lord and we take great comfort in knowing that she is home with him now. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Bay St. Louis, 114 Ulman Ave. Bay St. Louis, Mississippi 39520. First Presbyterian also serves as a Hurricane Katrina Relief Center.
Special Note on Ellie
While the Timber Ridge Subdivision was still being promoted and developed by the subdivision owners, a few of the older land holders and residents were visualizing a grand community. Among those folks were Guy and Ellie D’Antoni, both who pushed for a community civic organization which resulted in the Timber Ridge Property Owners Association as chartered on August 25, 1975.
Prior to the time of the “turnover” of “assets and common areas” to the TR-POA, the holding company was Guaranty Properties, and had renamed the subdivision — Bay Colony.
The D’Antoni’s led the effort to have the subdivision name reverted to Timber Ridge.

Dan:
This is your neighbor across the water at 101 Locust Ln., Mark and Cathy Sando. I have some information that may help a lot of neighbors with possible insurance problems. My son and I stayed to ride the storm out and have a small amount of video of Katrina coming in. The best part of the video shows trees down and power polls going down prior to the water reaching our main floor which is at an elevation of 13.2 feet. I have had this put on CD and made it available to several Attorney's. At this point. I am willing to share this with anyone who wishes to have a copy. Also if possible I would like to post our services on the web site if possible. My company Southern Hotel Renovation is doing gutting, rebuild, build, tree service, and demolition. I am willing to work with claims adjusters to aid in pricing or discrepancies. If you our anyone need additional information I can me E-mailed at singker@aol.com Or my cell 228-342-4708 or office at 228-864-7121.
Regards, Mark Sando
The pot-luck get together on October 30 was a resounding success. Although all the numbers are not yet in, it is estimated that approximately 100-125 people attended.
Some items discussed during the “business” portion of the meeting were:
Keith Voigts was appointed President of the Homeowners Association (he did not actively politic for this position!). The current president has moved away.
All homeowners are encouraged to view our web site for new information.
With regard to flood vs. wind damage”
Share anything you learn by letting Dan Ellis know at danellis3@juno.com.
The President of the Pass Isles Homeowners has some breaking news to help identify wind damage. He couldn’t be present Sunday, but will fill me in soon, and I will post the information to the web site.
There is interest mounting to start a fund to hire an engineer or engineers to report on wind damage to Timber Ridge in total. Those contributing to the fund will be privy to the report. This may escalate into a legal fund. More on that as information becomes available.
Groups are coming in to provide volunteer work to Timber Ridge. One is the Bible Fellowship Church locally. Another is a small town in Kentucky that is similar in size and charm to Pass Christian. They will be sending about 20 people to us during the Thanksgiving week to do clean-up and light carpentry work, as part of a two year commitment. Please contact Keith Voigts at 228-324-1043 if you need help.
Several people said that they hadn’t made up their minds if they were staying to rebuild, but the positive feeling at this outing is swaying them to stay.
It is important for all people to attend the meetings of the City’s Aldermen and mayor each week—Tuesday’s at 4:00 pm at the Gospel Fellowship Choir building at 2nd street and Menge. A large group volunteered to be there on Nov. 1 to protest the delays on building permits.
Above all, talk to your friends and neighbors about you experiences and post important items on our web site by emailing Dan Ellis. The more information we have, the better we will do.

Dear Timber Ridge Property Owner:
A lot has happened since our annual meeting last June. We have all been drawn together, in a sense, by our common tragedy. Some of us have had total losses - others losses that can be ftxed only with substantial rehabilitation. But there is no denying the fact that we all have signiftcant challenges and decisions facing us.
As we learned from the 911 experience, and again with Katrina, the ability to communicate is a top priority. This ability has not been improved much since 911. However in our little Timber Ridge part of the world, we understand the need and are dedicated to keeping the lines of communication open as best as we can.
Our fellow property owner, Dan Ellis, has done a superb job of collecting bits of communications and posting them on a Pass Christian web site:
If you have access to a computer, it would be worth your time to visit the site and send emails to Dan at danellis3@juno.com for posting to the site. Each little bit of good information helps us all.
Fortunately for all of us, our outstanding office manager and executive administrator, Candy Hotard, had the presence of mind to gather up our key records and move them out of the office before the storm hit. That is why you are receiving this letter. Candy and Pat Veltman, our treasurer, are working with insurance people to be able to put our office back together and start doing Timber Ridge business again. So be ready, we haven't lost our membership records and will be able to bill you for dues next year!!!
For those of you residing close or in Pass Christian, please be aware that the Mayor and Board of Aldermen meet twice weekly-4:00PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Beginning Tuesday, October 11, the meetings will be held in the Gospel Singers Building at Menge Avenue and Second Street. We really need Timber Ridge representation at those meetings. If you are staying out of the area, check the Web site or call me or another Pass Christian / Timber Ridge resident for updates.
Obviously, we need so many services, from building contractors, appraisers, etc. that it can be overwhelming. If you need help finding someone, or if you know of someone who is looking for customers, let Dan Ellis know via email. We need to stick together and use people who are acquainted with our area and can be trusted.
As I look around Timber Ridge, I can easily tell that the cleanup is well under way. The grief of seeing our personal passions gathered and saved for a lifetime is going away. We are now entering the rebuilding phase. As soon as we have water, we will be able to start. This is the positive part. We will be creating an even better Timber Ridge-we can think about making the changes to our homes that we may have been putting off. (As for me, I now have the excuse to upgrade my TV system. My wife, Gwenn, is so happy that we may be able to install something with only one or two remotes!) The positive attitude of the Timber Ridge people will come through as we face these challenges together.
With that in mind, we are scheduling a potluck social at 1 :OOPM Sunday, October 30. We will meet at Treasure Point, which is still as beautiful a place as it was before the storm. Bring food and drink to share and a lawn chair. We hope to have a tent erected, and if we can find a caterer to cook up some hamburgers, etc., we will let you know via the above website. We won't bore you too much, but we may plan a short "business meeting" to discuss any current happenings regarding our area. We don't know what the content will be because things are happening too fast right now.
The main idea of this potluck is to get together, renew friendships and leave with a truly positive feeling.
Just by writing this letter, my mood has been uplifted. Family and friends are so important in our lives. I really, really look forward to seeing you all on October 30.
In the meantime, give me a call at 228-324-1043. I'm in and out oftown, but can be reached by this cell number. If I don't answer, please leave a message so I can call you back.
Go Timber Ridge!!!
Exciting news from Donald Moore. Water pressure in Timber Ridge is almost back to normal and probably will be in the next day or two. Also, while this is not official, we may have sewer as early as the middle of the day on October 20. If not, then by the 21st. This is a temporary fix.
