Poem
Life in a Tin Can
Ever live the life of a lowly sardine?
Come visit my “home” to see what I mean.
Try to get dressed in a bedroom so small
That you can’t bend a leg without bumping the wall.
Please don’t open the sofa whatever you do
Or there’ll be only an inch to navigate through.
The kitchen’s such fun when you try to cook,
With barely the space for a recipe book.
Then there’s that little old table, for heaven’s sake,
Where you eat all those meals that there’s no room to make.
But taking a shower is the most fun of all,
Just don’t step in the toilet as you get out of the stall.
While drying yourself, watch out for those bends
Or you and the doorknob will be more than just friends.
Don’t get me wrong, I do love my trailer.
It’s like living the life of a submarine sailor.
Ode to My Trailer
All hail to thee, my humble abode,
Though you're more aptly suited to life on the road.
Hail to the bathroom, so compact I’ve found
Once the door’s closed – there’s no turning around.
Hail to the fire alarms! I’m so glad you’re there.
I love ear piercing beeps while spraying my hair.
Hail to the joys of cooking with gas!
But refilling the tank's - a “pro-pain” in the ass.
Hail to that well placed shelf by the bed.
Nothing wakes me up faster than a crack in the head.
All hail to FEMA! They’re not so bad.
I've learned to appreciate all I once had.
But while I’m “all hailing,” lest I forget,
Best learn to love it, ‘‘cause I’m not out of here yet.

The Incredible Shrinking Trailer
When first I moved into this place
There seemed to be such ample space.
Storage up and storage down under,
It seemed to be a storage wonder.
But now I have so much stuff
It’s clear that there’s not near enough.
Shove it here and shove it there,
All sorts of things crammed everywhere.
Stick those things wherever they fit,
But now there’s not a place to sit.
Just try to find the stuff you need …
It’s turned into an impossible deed.
Your search will take a frantic toll
‘Cause it’s all swallowed up in this black hole.
They just keep on coming. This trailer's making me crazy.
